Fujitsu's authentication and payment system VETUMA has won honours in WITSA's (World Information Technology and Services Alliance) Global IT Excellence Awards competition.
The awards were presented at an international WITSA conference on 4 May in Austin, Texas. WITSA's member organisations around the world name the nominees for the IT Excellence Awards competition. VETUMA was nominated by Federation of the Finnish Information Industries (Tietoalojen liitto).
Executive Director Tarja Virmala of Federation of the Finnish Information Industries gave a presentation of VETUMA at an International Summit on Digital Government hosted by Larry Olson, Chief Technology Officer of Texas. More than one hundred Texan and international government officials attended the event. The seminar had gathered the best policies of digital services from around the globe. Governor of Texas, Rick Perry, opened the seminar.
"Receiving international acknowledgement from such a significant organisation is a tremendous honour for us. It also proves that there's a calling for a solution like VETUMA both in Finland and in the international market", says Director Leena-Mari Lähteenmaa of Fujitsu's Government unit.
VETUMA was deployed in early April, initially built for the Finnish municipalities and government agencies. VETUMA enables integrated authentication and web payments in all government's electronic access services joined in the system.
