Fujitsu Services Oy in Finland has entered into a three-year agreement on delivering a regional information system as a service to the Hospital Districts of Pirkanmaa and Satakunta that provide specialised health care services for altogether over 500,000 inhabitants in their member municipalities.
The regional information system will secure high quality social and health care services and strengthen inter-organisational service networks and chains, and enhance their collaboration through creating a seamless service chain.
Fujitsu will deliver the integration platform. This solution enables the availability of customer data during the service transaction, with the permission of the customer. In other words, the system makes all necessary information accessible to social and health care professionals. This reduces overlapping examinations; speeds up service entrance; improves information security, and customer privacy.
"The regional information system for the first time allows us to draw up a service chain plan to customers. This means that we’ll be able to evaluate the overall service provided to customers, and with their permission, without any delays look into their data electronically, across organisational boundaries", says Timo Valli, Chief Information Officer for the Pirkanmaa Hospital District.
"The regional information service provides a tool for health care professionals, which significantly speeds up the access to customer information. For example, the case record and laboratory examination data gathered at the Satakunta Central Hospital are also accessible to surrounding health centres, eliminating the need for overlapping examinations. As a result, we will save a lot of time and money", comments Olli Wanne, Administrative Chief Physician for the Satakunta Hospital District.
Fujitsu is the first in Finland to offer an integrated and seamless regional information service to all hospital districts. It is the only truly instantly deployable, proven, finalised service concept. It helps hospital districts in rationalising their operation and improving cost efficiency.
In this project Fujitsu has partnered up with Finland Post Corporation’s subsidiary, Atkos, which specialises in electronic communication services. The overall service provision is, however, Fujitsu’s responsibility, including system capacity, usability, and the management and monitoring services.
Fujitsu’s solution meets the strict legal requirements regulating the social and health care services. The advanced technological solution has been developed in collaboration with social and health care professionals. It supports the development of the sector’s processes.
Fujitsu aims at offering operator-like regional information and IT infrastructure services for the social and health care sector. In order to develop its services Fujitsu in Finland also delivers solutions using novelty technologies. Fujitsu collaborates with the major service providers in the field, and is actively involved in various forums developing the Finnish information society of which new forms of health care services constitute a part.
