Kemira and Fujitsu have signed an agreement on the delivery of a SAP-based HR Management System. The HR (Human Resources) system will include applications for personnel record management, recruitment, personnel development and training.
The system will be used by the HR personnel and management of the Kemira Group in 30 countries. The system will have more than a thousand users. A pilot project is starting in the spring of 2004 and the system will be deployed throughout the group in early 2005.
"The choice of system was clear as we were already using SAP. Fujitsu was selected as the supplier after a fierce bidding competition. Positive prior experience, expert resources and competitive price were the decisive factors in our decision," adds Vesa Pihlajamaa, Project Manager, Kemira.
In launching the new system, Kemira is seeking to enhance the efficiency of its administrative operations.
"Our managers need to maintain up-to-date personnel records faster and with the best tools. Work efficiency has significantly improved now that basic information is available at the press of a button and you no longer need to go to the trouble of gathering it from a number of Word and Excel files," explains Pihlajamaa.
Kemira has been using a SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for several years for financial administration, logistics, production planning and maintenance, as well as quality assurance and monitoring. Last spring, Kemira signed an SLA (Service Level Agreement) with Fujitsu. This agreement includes the SAP server hardware and its maintenance at a Fujitsu data centre on a 24/7 basis. The new HR system will be appended to the service agreement.
