Metsähallitus and Fujitsu to embark upon major IT collaboration

Helsinki, elokuu 15, 2013

Metsähallitus and Fujitsu Finland Oy have entered into an IT infrastructure agreement whereby Fujitsu will assume responsibility for the desktop, availability and data centre services. The services will be implemented in accordance with Fujitsu's managed service model, Patja.

Fujitsu will also serve as systems integrator for Metsähallitus, managing their ICT as a whole and being responsible for its development, for problem management and the routing of service requests.

Metsähallitus administers more than 12 million hectares of land and water areas, making it the largest forest owner in Finland. Metsähallitus employs approximately 1,500 people across the country.

”We aim for a fruitful partnership that builds on mutual trust, creating circumstances where our services have the opportunity for continual development. Above all else, we based our decision on cost efficiency, quality and skills development. Fujitsu presented believable and convincing descriptions of their service model and responsibilities. Also, the geographical coverage of their sites is important to us,” says CIO Markku Palo of Metsähallitus.

The start-up process for the Patja service is presently in progress, and it will reach full production capability by January 2014.
