Fujitsu Finland head office has been granted the WWF Green Office logo

tammikuu 11, 2012

Green OfficeThe head office of Fujitsu Finland Oy has been granted the WWF Green Office logo. To meet the qualifications for this recognition the company had to conduct environmental assessments, establish environmental targets, demonstrate tangible environmental achievements and take an active stance in internal environmental communication. Moreover, before being granted the Green Office diploma, the company had to pass an office inspection by a WWF Green Office expert.

It has been a year since Fujitsu joined the Green Office network. The company aims at increasing the environmental awareness of its staff and reduce the environmental load of the head office. Approximately one thousand ICT professionals work at the head office, located at Pitäjänmäki in Helsinki.

”I am extremely delighted and proud of the Green Office network. Fujitsu runs at the forefront among ICT companies worldwide in taking environmental responsibility. We have received numerous recognitions for our achievements in sustainable development.  The Green Office logo granted to our head office is a remarkable achievement and in line with Fujitsu's global environmental targets,” says business development director Tiina Laiho of Fujitsu.

During the course of 2011, environmental responsibility was highlighted in Fujitsu Finland's operations, which materialised in several tangible environmental achievements.

”We set up an eco site on our intranet for our staff to find information on sorting waste, saving energy and the environmental impact of foods, for example. In our eco blog we discuss current environmental topics, and our staff can use our idea process to make environment-related initiatives,” says Green Office coordinator Eveliina Champagne of Fujitsu.

”We also started using Jopo bicycles last spring in work-related trips. We have brought a schedule screen to our main lobby in the head office and offer commuting tickets to our staff to encourage them to use public transport. To reduce travelling, we have deployed new video conferencing equipment at our sites throughout Finland. We also have a positive take on teleworking,” Eveliina Champagne lists.
