The BS2000 software product MAREN is used for the management of tape inventories in a Data Center and replaces the manual, mostly complex and error-prone management of data volumes with a system-supported and largely automated process.
MAREN stores all information about the tapes in a MAREN catalog, which can be set up centrally for several systems. When processing data volumes with STD labels, authorization checks are performed. These ensure that volumes cannot be inadvertently overwritten or accessed by unauthorized persons.
MAREN supports tape encryption on LTO drives as of LTO-4.
Through close cooperation between MAREN and other BS2000 software products, e. g. HSMS, the data center can be optimally organized.
