Media group Alma Media Oyj and ICT services supplier Fujitsu Services Oy have signed a Patja agreement on the provision of managed IT infrastructure services. This agreement renews the collaboration that dates back to 2004.
This Patja service incorporates support services on approximately 2,000 workstations and availability services on 125 servers of Alma in the Helsinki area, Pirkanmaa and Satakunta. In addition to the Patja agreement, the suite of services also includes management and monitoring services on servers and data communications equipments as well as other additional services.
Reliable IT infrastructure is vital for a media company.
"The media industry is in a constant - and fast-paced - state of change, and to be successful you must build up a networked operation environment, also in terms of information technology. In the future, the media need evolving and innovative IT solutions that are built on efficient and cost-effective IT infrastructure processes," says senior vice president Minna Nissinen, who is in charge of corporate development and chaining operations at Alma Media.
"Collaborating with a large media group as Alma is fascinating and challenging. A networked operating environment requires that we, too, cooperate closely with different application and hardware vendors. There are many interesting development projects going on both on the newspaper and on-line media side all the time," says regional director Pasi Lehmus of Fujitsu's offices in Tampere.
