H.264 Codec/Encoder/Transcoder
Fujitsu offers a Codec & Transcoder product family with a comprehensive suite of high integrated solutions for H.264 HP@L4 encoding, decoding and transcoding between H.264 and MPEG-2 for applications which require best compression performance combined with low power consumption and small form factor. These key features have been provided by sophisticated proprietary video compression algorithms from Fujitsu Laboratories.
The Fujitsu Codecs MB86H45/55 support flexible video resolutions up to 1920x1080x60i whereas the MB86H46/56 support video resolutions up to 1920x1080x60p. These Codec solutions include memory on chip, PCI I/F and video scaler blocks for down scaling before encoding and up scaling after decoding. The low power consumption of these devices allows designs using battery as power source.
Main applications for the MB86H55/H56 are consumer equipment such as AVCHD camcorders. The MB86H45/46 target non-consumer applications like professional cameras, miniature/portable HD video recorders, PC capture cards for medical equipment and video surveillance for quality control in industrial area.
The Fujitsu transcoder MB86H52 is a solution supporting transcoding of MPEG-2 MP@HL to H.264 HP@L4 streams –containing HD or SD video formats – including time re-stamping of the audio stream. Additional functions are H.264 encoding & decoding and MPEG-2 decoding in SD and HD video format. Furthermore this IC includes a 3DES en- and decryption block.
Main applications of the MB86H52 can be found in the TV broadcast area as well as in STB PVR and home network domain, where encryption of the TS might be required.
The MB86H57/H58 is a new Fujitsu transcoder solution available in two packages with different form factors but with the same functionality including USB2.0, PCI and PCI-express (PCIe) interfaces.
This solution supports transcoding and encoding functions for flexible video formats up to 1920x1080x60i and includes memory on chip. Additionally this IC includes encryption engines allowing digital rights management (DRM). These ICs are targeting typical applications for consumer equipment (CE).
