MPEG-2/H.264 Standard Definition Decoders

SmartMPEG Decoders offer solutions for numerous DVB applications

The SmartMPEG Family, supporting MPEG2 and H.264 video standards in standard definition resolutions, offers a comprehensive range of digital TV Decoders for worlwide satellite, cable and terrestrial broadcasting applications. These highly integrated devices are compatible with DVB Standards, allowing manufacturers to offer high quality functionality in cost-effective solutions.

The SmartMPEG MB86H2x family is suitable for various STB applications from low to mid range and also supports extended temperature range.

SmartMPEG MB86H35 includes enhanced features to support high-end personal video recorder (PVR) applications. It supports picture in picture (PIP) with dual video decoders and the high speed USB 2.0 on-the-go (OTG) interface allows the connection to USB devices and a PC.

The latest family member, MB86H01, is an advanced digital TV decoder designed to meet the needs of tomorrow’s set-top box and IDTV sets. It supports H.264 and MPEG2 video formats, a hardware DMA and data encryption, together with an LCD output channel to enable direct connection to an LCD panel.

It also supports PVR applications using the internal hard disk drive of a Set-Top box or an external Hard disk drive connected via a USB Interface. The USB 2.0 high-speed (480Mbps) OTG link controller can be used for connection to USB hosts (e.g. PC) or devices (e.g. USB Stick or Hard disk drive).

Thanks to its very low power consumption, customers can easily meet ecodesign requirements for Set-top boxes set by the European commission.

The products are also available in FBGA 240 package with physical dimensions of 10 mm x 10 mm (standard package: BGA256, 27mm x 27mm).

To help our customers achieve the shortest possible time-to-market, all SmartMPEG devices come with the Fujitsu Application Programming Interface (FAPI), in addition the comprehensive Set-top box software Smart-Go is also available.

SmartGo

SmartGo is also available for reducing the development time of your DTV products. A comprehensive list of features is suported , including EPG, PVR and file browser with an image viewer. The software is an excellent starting point for your own development of an ditgital TV receiver including PVR functionality.
With regard to software layers, SmartGo sits on top of the decoder chip drivers (FAPI) and Fujitsu's RTOS. It integrates drivers for the various available front-ends and ported 3rd party software components. The picture illustrates an overview of the different layers of the SmartGo software system.
