MB86297A 'Carmine' incorporates a unique graphics core that delivers superior performance (10x that of its successful predecessor MB86295 'Coral PA'). The functional blocks inside the chip were redesigned and optimized for high-end in-car multimedia applications. MB86297A 'Carmine' is intended for use with OpenGL® ES 1.1 applications and transformation and lighting functions can be executed in hardware.
Another key feature of MB86297A 'Carmine' are the two independent display output units. Both can generate individual display timings and resolutions. Eight layers and four alpha-planes are available for each display channel. MB86297A 'Carmine' also features two independent video input channels, each of which can independently capture YUV or RGB signals.
