Modular Evaluation System featuring GUI Tool and LCD Touch Panel

Description

The Jade Evaluation Board is a modular system, which is comprised of a base board (the evaluation board itself), which offers the main GDC interfaces, the push-fit 'XXS Video' board, which carries the MB86R01 'Jade' device itself and two further extension boards (Video IN and Video OUT, offering APIX, audio, IDE and VGA interfaces). This modular system is available as a part of the Jade / EmWi System Bundle' which additionally includes an LCD Touch Panel and the latest version of the GDC CD containing an evaluation version of the GUI tool 'Embedded Wizard' from TARA Systems as well as a USB dongle, documentation and a software example 'Robot Control GUI'.

Software

The GUI tool 'Embedded Wizard' (EmWi) can be downloaded via the TARA Systems Download Center (for registered users) and requires a USB dongle. To simplify and speed up first-time use, the Jade / EmWi (Embedded Wizard) System Bundle contains a USB dongle for an evaluation period of 50 hours and a pre-registered account for the Download Center. The full version of EmWi can be purchased via our distributors or TARA Systems.

A simple Linux build system for the Fujitsu / mycable XXSvideo based hardware is available from sourceforge.net. The download includes the script and patches build toolchain (gcc-4.2, glibc-2.6), kernel (2.6.22) and root file system (busybox).

You will require a TFTP server installation to use the system (this is described in the board manual). The freeware TFTP server that we have tested and used can be obtained from the following link: TFTP32.

Note: The software packages require a (real or virtual) Linux system for effective use (i.e. a Cygwin environment on a Windows PC will not suffice).
