FME has pioneered advanced communication and networking technologies for many years. Active in a broad range of wired and wireless application areas, the company combines innovative intellectual property (IP) with advanced manufacturing to deliver market leading product solutions. The resulting comprehensive portfolio of application specific standard products (ASSPs) enable cost effective and highly integrated solutions.
Fujitsu Microelectronics is investing significantly in both Fixed and Mobile WiMAX, offering a family of leading-edge IEEE 802.16d and 802.16e compliant System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions. These enable broadband connectivity for both access terminals and base-stations.
Radio basestation applications are well supported through FME's market-leading Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) ASSPs. One dual DAC is arguably the only device capable of implementing dual wideband, high direct-IF transmit architectures making it well matched to multi-carrier, wideband applications. This level of performance is effectively air-interface agnostic, as required by software defined radio (SDR) platforms, and can equally be applied to Local Oscillator (LO) generation at frequencies above that readily achievable by integrated DDS solutions. Alternatively their superior time-domain performance can benefit [arbitrary] waveform generation (AWG) in driving lasers for medical or semiconductor cutting, scribing, or dicing applications.
For wireline metro networks, FME offers Ethernet mappers and SDH/SONET add-drop multiplexers to meet the needs of next-generation converged networks. FME’s high-end Ethernet switching devices and Optical Transport Network (OTN) chip-sets enable upcoming native Ethernet telecom networks with high capacity Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) transport links. Future developments are proving instrumental in future standards including 40G and 100G.
Development and applications resource is divided between offices in Maidenhead, UK and Langen, Germany providing superior support to local customers working with either ASSPs or custom solutions centred around the frequently system-defining IP.
Fujitsu Microelectronics also offers a broad selection of solutions ranging from PLLs to sophisticated multimedia processors.
