About the RoHS directive

In 2002 the European Commission (EC) has decided to adopt the “Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (2002/95/EC)”, commonly known as the RoHS directive. The directive bans the usage of 6 hazardous materials in Electrical and Electronical Equipment (EEE). The directive is part of a whole series of EC environmental guidelines. Several governments worldwide, including China, California, and South Korea are preparing to enact similar RoHS legislation.

Certain applications are exempt from the requirements of the directive including mercury in certain types of fluorescent lamps, lead in the glass of cathode ray tubes, some electronic components and fluorescent tubes, lead in electronic ceramic parts and hexavalent chromium as an anti-corrosion of the carbon steel cooling system in absorption refrigerators. These exemptions will be reviewed every four years.

Fujitsu is working on issuing all products RoHS compliant. In fact, most of our products already are. Here after you find a detailed update explaining the consequences per product group. As there are various different solutions to adhere to the compliancy, Fujitsu strives to maintain the highest quality and environmental standards.

EEE is only allowed to contain limited amounts of the 6 hazardous substances mentioned below:

Hazardous Materials

  • Lead (Pb)
  • Mercury (Hg)
  • Cadmium (Cd)
  • Hexavalent chromium (Cr6)
  • Polybrominated biphenyl (PBB)
  • Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE)
