The Spanish Traffic Authority Chooses Fujitsu Software’s Interstage to drive Management Efficiency
Dublin-based Fujitsu Software Corporation, the leading provider of application integration and middleware software, today announced that the Spanish Traffic Authority - has chosen the Interstage® Business Process Manager software, to support its e-business strategy.
Dublin, 2nd February 2004 — Fujitsu Software Corporation, the leading provider of application integration and middleware software, today announced that the Dirección General de Tráfico (DGT) - the Spanish Traffic Authority - has chosen the Interstage® Business Process Manager software, to support its e-business strategy of modernising its technology platforms and measuring the sanctioning process against Spanish road drivers.
During Phase one of the two year project, Fujitsu España will be working with the DGT to develop and integrate systems and functions across its servers and databases, in order to increase business process flexibility, platform integration and interoperability with all the institutions involved in the whole process: regional headquarters, post-offices, the Tax Agency and financial entities.
The project involves the scanning of all documents as well as the implementation of character recognition and digital signatures technologies. DGT employees will benefit from increased business process efficiencies by simplified document retrieval and information and statistics generation capabilities.
"We are pleased to be working on such a high profile project with the Spanish Traffic Authority, which not only will enhance the working processes internally, but that will ultimately significantly benefit the public," said Declan Jones, Director of Fujitsu Software Corporation. "With Interstage, companies get best-in-class infrastructure software to power their business-critical applications – when and where they need it."
With the digital storage of information, the DGT will achieve faster recovery of all the documentation associated with the sanctioning proceedings at any stage of the workflow, which will facilitate the compliance with legal time periods and the whole management of notifications to the different parties involved in the process. The need for job-specific software is expected to be reduced, through the increased flexibility and simplicity of processes resulting from the implementation of Interstage Business Process Manager.
Through the documentation published in the DGT web site, the Spanish citizens will have the opportunity to benefit from the modernisation of the sanctioning process. Fujitsu España will also assist with the migration of all the data from the system to the new information repositories. It also leaves consideration for a period of maintenance and support after starting the system operation, which will guarantee system performance during the first months of its life.
