Fujitsu’s New ETERNUS CS800 - Best for Backup

Latest version of flagship storage solution opens up more potential for resellers to add value and reduce costs for enterprise customers

London, 13th October 2011 — Fujitsu’s new ETERNUS CS800 disk-to-disk backup system is faster and offers customers better price/performance and scalability than its competitors, enabling them to get backups done faster. For resellers, it presents a great opportunity to add more value and deliver significant cost savings for enterprise customers.

The CS800 uses the industry’s leading deduplication technology to make disk-to-disk backup affordable. It’s now 50 percent faster with the new “Speed” mode. Its class-leading scalability makes it attractive for organisations struggling to keep pace with annual data storage requirements, that according to IDC are growing by an average of 60 per cent a year, providing to up to 1.6 Petabytes of logical capacity.

Craig Parker, head of product marketing at Fujitsu UK&I, says: “We’re still seeing massive growth in storage requirements in the enterprise market and that’s expanding the backup window and making it harder to manage. Throwing lots more disk or tape at the problem is not the answer – the new CS800 provides a much smarter alternative that will reduce costs and improve business resiliency for customers, who are quite willing to change vendors to solve the aggravating backup issue. It’s a great opportunity for our reseller partners.”

Fujitsu has recently recruited and trained a number of SELECT Expert Storage Partners and will be working with these resellers to raise awareness of the benefits that the CS800 for organisations with large data storage needs. “The CS800 enables our partners can deliver exceptional ROI and added-value to customers and this is a good time to take it to market”, says Parker.

“A lot of enterprise customers will have been unsettled by recent changes that have taken place in the storage market and may be actively looking at alternative suppliers. Fujitsu is a trusted brand and the CS800 is far superior to anything else that’s out there right now.

The advanced de-duplication technology of ETERNUS CS800 reduces typical disk requirements up to 95 percent, delivering significant cost reduction and enabling easier and faster backups for VMware environments. It runs over a NAS (Network Attached Storage) interface or a VTL (Virtual Tape Library), making it simple to deploy and use with all leading backup applications and to share between different servers in any Ethernet or Fibre Channel environment. For disaster recovery, backup data is replicated be¬tween sites using global de-duplication to reduce typical network bandwidth needs by a factor of 20 or more.
