KnowledgePool delivers the MIDAS touch

IMS HEALTH, the world's leading provider of information solutions to the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries has commissioned KnowledgePool to design an e-Learning programme to train their global sales force in the use of MIDAS®.

Bracknell, 31st July 2002 — IMS HEALTH, the world's leading provider of information solutions to the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries has commissioned KnowledgePool to design an e-Learning programme to train their global sales force in the use of MIDAS®. MIDAS is a unique system that brings together healthcare facts and figures from around the world, providing the opportunity to examine multi-country markets in the most flexible and cost effective ways. IMS HEALTH has specialized in collecting and analyzing pharmaceutical information for the advancement of world health since the 1950s. Prior to the installation of the new IT system sales training was delivered as a one-day classroom based course - this has been condensed into a 2-hour e-Learning programme delivered via the corporate intranet or CD-ROM, enabling easy, cost effective access from anywhere in the world.

Sue Wright, training manager explained, "The MIDAS system stores information gathered from virtually every prescription distribution channel, enabling us to offer our clients an invaluable source of insight into drug utilization, prescribing practices and drug effectiveness. It is therefore vital that our people are able to use MIDAS effectively in order to promote and provide an efficient service. We turned to e-Learning as a training mechanism in order to deliver consistent training to our widely dispersed sales force."

In order to better understand the pharmaceutical industry and the service that IMS HEALTH provides, KnowledgePool's scriptwriter and project manager attended a MIDAS classroom course. Based on some of the original courseware, the e-Learning programme outlines the benefits of MIDAS and includes information on where the data is sourced, how to interrogate MIDAS and how to interpret the data and statistics.

Sue Wright observed, "KnowledgePool took the time to understand our industry and organisation before embarking on the design and development of this programme. We also requested that the e-Learning was built to include online assessments that have to be successfully completed before each user is able to progress onto the next module. This ensures that the programme is completed in the correct order and that users demonstrate a full and clear understanding of each section as they progress through the training. "

She continued, "We are delighted with this learning programme, not only is it available for newcomers, it is a valuable refresher course that can be accessed easily by any of our staff worldwide."
