Fujitsu's new starter kit makes 3-phase motor control development easy

Embedded World Exhibition: Stand 312, Hall 12.

Langen & Nuremberg, 13th February 2007 — Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe (FME) today debuts its MotorKit-91F267-MC starter kit specifically designed to simplify the development of 3-phase motor control solutions using the company's MB91F267N 32-bit motor control microcontroller (MCU).

The MB91F267N MCU is optimised for industrial and automotive 3-phase motor control and offers a rich feature mix designed to target applications in these markets. 3-phase motors are increasingly being used in industrial, automotive and home appliance applications where high-reliability, low acoustic noise, variable speed capability and high-efficiency are requirements.

Featuring Fujitsu's 32-bit RISC (FR) core with a maximum internal clock speed of 33MHz (PLLx8), the MB91F267N has 128kB dual-operation flash memory that enables write, read and erase operations to be performed separately in each bank for easy data storage configuration. A flexible multi-function timer for motor control provides: 6-channel compare, 4-channel input capture; 4-channel (16-bit) or 8-channel (8-bit) PPG; 3-channel 16-bit free-run timer; and a waveform generator with dead-time generation and fault input.

Further features include: two dedicated 10-bit ADC units with 11 input channels (4 + 7-channels) and a sampling speed of 1.2µs; a 1-channel CAN interface; a 2-channel UART with synchronous/asynchronous modes; eight external interrupts plus NMI; a pulse width counter; 3-channel, 16-bit reload timer; a 5-channel DMA; and a MAC unit providing 16-bit x 16-bit +40-bit in one cycle.

The new MotorKit-91F267-MC can serve as a development platform for many applications including BLDC (with Hall sensors or sensorless), PMSM with sinusoidal commutation, vector control of PMSM/ACIM and many more.

Key features include an integrated 24V/15A (configuration dependent) 3-phase power stage; connectors for an external power stage; voltage and current measurement; an LCD connector; Hall/encoder connector (to ICU); isolated RS232 and CAN interfaces; and over-current and over-voltage detection.
