Fujitsu CeBIT 2009 Showcase: The New ScanSnap S1500 and S1500M Series

London, 3. March 2009 — Fujitsu Europe Limited unveils its newest one-button scanning solutions at today's CeBIT Expo opening in Hannover, Germany - ScanSnap S1500 and ScanSnap S1500M. Both are compact-size desktop document office scanners targeted for fast and easy high-quality scanning in general offices and diverse environments. The ScanSnap S1500 is designed for Windows operating systems including Windows 2000, XP and Vista and generates PDF files as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, whereas ScanSnap S1500M addresses Mac OS® X operating systems. Both new colour duplex scanners can be seen at Fujitsu's CeBIT showcase in the Planet Reseller Area of Hall 25 / Booth L105 through 8th of March.
Fast One-Touch Scanning
The ScanSnap S1500 and S1500M excel through speed, ease of operation, efficient digitised data management, intelligent software
functions and enhanced connectability. Their displayed Quick Menu references help expedite the scanning process and increase
both models' flexibility. Whether day-to-day business correspondence, business cards or colour brochures up to A3 in size,
both models scan documents at speeds of up to 20 pages per minute in simplex- or 40 images per minute in duplex-mode (A4 portrait/300
dpi/monochrome, colour and greyscale). Its scanning process is simplified through Fujitsu's unique one-touch, menu driven
operating approach. With their small footprint of (W) 292 mm x (D) 159 mm x (H) 158 mm and 3 kg weight, both ScanSnap S1500
and S1500M sit comfortably on any desktop, providing an optimal imaging solution for efficient day-to-day scanning at the
user's convenience. Both scanners are fitted with an USB 2.0 interface.
Ultrasonic Multi-feed Paper Detection
Ultrasonic multi-feed detection sensors assure a secure paper throughput. These are the first document scanners of their class
to provide ultrasonic detection capabilities to the professional office desktop. Both ScanSnap S1500 and S1500M include a
50-sheet Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) for consecutive batch scanning. Special ScanSnap carrier sheets enable users of both
models to digitise A3 formats and varying size documents such as press clipping copies and photographs. Such paper documents
can be either scanned successively or in mixed document batches.
ScanSnap S1500M

New Office Linkage Functions
The ScanSnap S1500 and S1500M provide enhanced office linkage functions for increased post-processing support. Operating the
scan-to-email, scan-to-print or scan-to-folder functions are activated by simply pressing a button. The ScanSnap S1500 model
additionally offers the Scan-to-SharePoint/OfficeLive function. Both scanner models facilitate simple PDF generation through
easy one-touch activated automatic settings and automatic correction functions, including blank page detection, auto de-skew,
automatic image orientation, auto resolution function, auto colour detection and auto cropping. And for Windows operating
systems, the ScanSnap S1500 is additionally offering automatic keyword sorting via the ScanSnap Organizer.
Intelligent Software Functions
In addition to automatic PDF file creation, ScanSnap S1500 and S1500M users can also generate searchable PDF files for seamless
integration of bundled ABBYY® FineReader OCR applications. The ScanSnap S1500's enclosed Adobe® Acrobat®
9.0 Standard software is a welcome addition for editing PDF files; respectively the Adobe® Acrobat® 8.0 Professional
for the ScanSnap S1500M model. Displayed thumbnail images simplify the location and viewing of ScanSnap-generated PDF and
JPEG files.
The Windows version ScanSnap S1500 also features the ScanSnap Organizer 4.0 to simplify PDF management and file searches as well as the new CardMinder 4.0 for easy business card scanning and efficient business card information organisation; respectively using the bundled Cardiris business card software for the Mac version ScanSnap S1500M.
Price and Availability
Both Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 and S1500M will be available in the EMEA distribution channel from 3rd of March 2009 for a recommended
retail price of € 479.00 plus VAT.
