Fujitsu ScanSnap S300 – The World´s Smallest* A4 Colour, Duplex ADF Document Scanner
London, 05 December 2007 — Fujitsu Europe Limited today introduced its new ScanSnap S300, the world´s smallest* A4 colour, duplex ADF document scanner for mobile and stationary deployment. Its ultra-compact footprint and powerful functions are ideal for mobile use on the road as well as for desktop applications in offices and homes. Fujitsu´s ScanSnap S300 captures document sizes from business card to A4 format and offers the fastest "one-touch" conversion of paper documents into searchable Adobe® portable document format (PDF) files in this performance class.
Fast “one touch” colour scanning
With a tiny footprint of just (W)284mm x (D)95mm x (H)75mm and weighing just 1.4 kg, the ScanSnap S300 is small and light
enough for easy transport in briefcases or laptop bags. By simply pressing the „SCAN“ button, the ScanSnap S300 captures images
at speeds of 8 pages per minute (simplex) and 16 images per minute (duplex) in auto colour at 150 dpi, providing excellent
colour batch scanning performance. In its duplex mode, the S300 scans front and rear sides of the document simultaneously
in a single pass. Fujitsu´s new ScanSnap S300 is also able to scan thicker business cards and postcards with paperweights
of up to 209.4 g/m2.
Multiple power connections
The ScanSnap S300 can be operated via A/C connection and USB ports. If A/C sources are not available, the S300 can be powered
via two integrated USB bus ports and provide colour batch scanning speeds of up to 4 pages (simplex) and 8 images per minute
for double-sided documents (duplex) in auto colour at 150 dpi.
Advanced image automation
The ScanSnap S300 provides the latest image automation tools such as automatic image de-skew for correct image realignment,
automatic page orientation, automatic paper-size detection, and blank page image removal. The scanner enables users to view
PDF and JPEG files with its thumbnail viewer, perform simple edits, change thumbnail display sizes, arrange files with a “drag
and drop” function, as well as provide advanced viewing and control of scanned content, and support keyword searches on scanned
data. The S300 quickly digitizes large volumes of business cards for quick reference and feeds captured images and information
directly into Excel, Outlook Express and postcard software. The ScanSnap S300 automatically converts scanned data into searchable
PDF files, which eases the file search at a later date.

The ScanSnap S300 is unique in scanning and organizing business cards as well as transforming A4 size paper documents into electronic formats in one single device, requiring no further purchase and installation of additional business card solutions. Whether on a client site, in the plane, train or during a meeting, the user can instantly create PDF files that later on can be fed into archiving and DMS applications or further support workflow routines. From a functional product perspective, ScanSnap S300 bridges the gap between Fujitsu´s category of professional fi-series document scanners and those devices that initially had been primarily introduced to support the information and knowledge worker in a business or home office environment.

The Fujitsu ScanSnap S300 document scanner will be available immediately for a recommended retail sales price of € 299 including
VAT (depends on actual VAT).
