Fujitsu’s New Cat5 Extender Supports Ultra High-Definition Monitors up to 300m Away

Hoofddorp, February 7, 2006 — Fujitsu Fujitsu Components Europe B.V. today announced it has introduced a low-profile Cat5 Wide Band Extender for cost-effective remote control of a KVM console or CPU and a high-resolution monitor from up to 300 meters (984 feet) away over standard, Category 5E UTP cable.

The new SERVIS™ FE-1000CW supports both synchronous and composite synchronous high-resolution video monitors up to 1600 x 1200dpi at 200m, and 1280x1024dpi and 1024x768dpi at 300m. Fujitsu’s patented, built-in RGB color-shift correction circuitry automatically compensates for skew due to long cable lengths to maintain optimum image transmission. Additionally, video brightness and contrast can be independently controlled by the user at the receiver unit.

Both the local transmitter and a remote receiver each measure a compact 110(W) x 100(D) x 25(H)mm. To further save space, both units can be attached to a desk or cabinet with an optional, magnetic bracket. For added flexibility, a local KVM console can be added to the transmitter unit.

The unit’s multi-interface platform can be connected to any system equipped with PS/2, PC USB, SUN 8P I/O or SUN USB using the appropriate cable. The video interface is a standard D-sub 15-pin, with an optional conversion adaptor supporting 13W3 SUN video interface.

When combined with Fujitsu SERVIS™ KVM switches or console drawers, multiple PCs and/or servers can be controlled from a distant location. Key applications are found in financial transaction, construction, manufacturing, telecommunication and broadcasting markets.
