UK Border Agency trials automated border clearance system with Fujitsu

August 29, 2008 – UK Border Agency has unveiled a trial of an automated border control system at Manchester International airport. The system provided by Fujitsu Services in partnership with Vision-Box S A, allows passengers holding electronic passports and arriving through Terminal 1 at Manchester airport to fast-track through immigration with no prior registration.

Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Announces Final Decision on PCB Manufacturing Transfer

Birmingham, June 30, 2008 – Solihull-based Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Limited (FTEL) announced today that following exhaustive consultations, a final decision has been taken to transfer its PCB (printed circuit board) manufacturing operations to sister company, Fujitsu Network Communications (FNC), in the United States. The key factor in the decision was the continuing volatility in demand for products in the global telecommunications market. The transfer is scheduled for completion by 31 December 2008.

Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Wins Substantial BT Re-Manufacturing Contracts in Ireland

Birmingham, May 7, 2008 – Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Limited announces that its Antrim-based specialist re-manufacturing and repair division, Fujitsu Telecommunications Ireland (FTI), has recently won two major re-manufacturing contracts with a combined value of nearly GB £2.5 million. BT Convergent Solutions has awarded FTI a significant two-year contract for re-manufacturing and component-level repair services. Underlining re-manufacturing’s value as a waste-reduction strategy, the contract will involve the processing of approximately 1500 products per month, and spans around one hundred business-telephone product lines, including legacy products as well as a growing number of IP-based systems. In addition, FTI has also won a two-year contract to re-manufacture and repair BT’s installed base of Sovereign SM1 payphones throughout the UK, with 120 units refurbished in the first month.

Fujitsu sign £25 million deal with Cafcass for public sector Flex

March 20, 2008 – Cafcass (The Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service), a non-departmental public body which looks after the interests of children involved in family legal proceedings, joins public sector Flex. Flex is the framework which allows Fujitsu Services in conjunction with the Cabinet Office to provide information and communication technology (ICT) as a shared service across the public sector. The contract, valued at £25 million, is for a seven year term with a refresh of both hardware and software after four years.
