Certification
At the heart of Fujitsu environmental philosophy is Green Policy – we make every activity green.
Current activities include:
- Reducing the environmental impact of our products throughout the product lifecycle.
- Conserving energy and natural resources, and practice a 3R approach (reduce, reuse, recycle) to create best-of-breed eco-friendly products.
- Seeking to reduce risks to human health and the environment from the use of harmful chemical substances or waste.
- Helping customers reduce the environmental impact of their activities and improve environmental efficiency, through our IT products and solutions.
- Disclosing environment-related information on our business activities, products and services, and utilize the resulting feedback to critique ourselves in order to further improve our environmental programs.
- Encouraging our employees to work to improve the environment, bearing in mind the impact of their business activities and their civic responsibilities.
Practical steps
In Europe, FME makes substantial contributions through specific projects. Amongst the Green successes are collection and re-use
of packaging material and empty trays, using multi-use containers that make outer boxes and filling materials obsolete - and
new techniques for producing ultra-thin wafers without using chemicals.
These, plus the introduction of lead-free solder material and new solder processes, together with organised collection and
recycling of products, all help to reduce negative environmental impact.
One of FME's most successful green steps made, was the introduction of Green Electricity.
Initiatives like these are planned, controlled and assessed within Fujitsu's Global ISO14001 Environmental Management System, which gained certification for all European and worldwide facilities in May 2006.
Furthermore, FME is fully compliant with RoHS1 and WEEE2 programs.
Throughout the world, Fujitsu takes its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) seriously. And in Europe, FME has taken on an active role in forging links with local communities in order that this CSR programme is implemented at a local level.
