"PRIMERGY RX600 servers are high-performance systems that do their job very well. Thanks to the excellent support by the Fujitsu experts, our migration from a Solaris environment to x86 servers, running on SUSE Linux couldn’t have gone more smoothly. Fujitsu also impressed us with their SAP expertise"
Norbert Poesch, Head of IT Infrastructure Management, EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG
EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG, is one of the largest energy companies in Germany and Europe. EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG generates, trades in, transports and sells energy, and operates in the fields of electricity and gas as well as energy and environmental services. In addition to the use of conventional energies, the increase in energy efficiency and expansion of renewable energies play an important role. EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG’s home market is Baden-Württemberg and Germany. The company is headquartered in Karlsruhe, Germany.
EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG had originally been running its 350 SAP instances on Solaris platforms. Prompted by a reinvestment project, however, the Group had to decide whether it wanted to continue to use SPARC servers or to migrate to x86 systems. The decision was finally taken to opt for the highly virtualized Intel standard servers. The energy company’s IT department soon realized that to implement a migration project of this magnitude as quickly and efficiently as possible, it needed an expert solution partner on board.
