Battery Utility Guide
1. General information about product
Battery Utility is a software tool for
controlling and displaying information about the battery.
The Battery Utility tool can be used for the following functions:
- Displaying information about the battery.
- Setting up the capacity of the battery.
- Setting up ECO Sleep mode.
- Setting up the discharge setting of the battery.
- Battery charging scheme.
Notes:
- Not all features
may be available, depending upon your system model.
- If you make any changes to the computer settings (such as
changing the brightness), it may take a while before changes to the
battery run time are reflected.
2. How to use
Displaying information about the battery
You can see the battery information
using the following procedure.
Windows7
- Select [Start]
-> [All Programs] -> [FUJITSU - Battery Utility], then click [Battery Information].
The [Battery Information - Battery Utility] window
appears.
Windows8 or Windows8.1
- Go to All Apps screen.
- Click [Battery Information] at the [FUJITSU - Battery Utility] in the
[Apps] list. The [Battery information - Battery Utility] window appears.

Set up the capacity of the battery
You can improve the battery life span by
reducing the battery capacity. Note that if you reduce the battery capacity,
the battery run time will also be reduced.
The battery is set to fully charge by default. You can decrease the amount of
the battery charge to 80% using the following procedure.
Windows7
- Select [Start]
-> [All Programs] -> [FUJITSU - Battery Utility], then click [Battery
Configuration]. The [Battery Configuration - Battery Utility] window
appears.
- Follow the instructions that appear in the [Battery
Configuration - Battery Utility] window.
Windows8 or Windows8.1
- Go to All Apps screen.
- Click [Battery Configuration] at the [FUJITSU - Battery Utility] in the
[Apps] list. The [Battery Configuration - Battery Utility] window appears.
- Follow the instructions that appear in the [Battery
Configuration - Battery Utility] window.
Setting up ECO Sleep mode
You can reduce power consumption by
changing the AC adapter's standby mode.
Note that if you set the Low-power standby mode
of the ECO Sleep, battery power will still be consumed while in sleep mode, but
total power consumption is reduced because the battery power consumed is less than that from the AC adapter.
Note that ECO Sleep mode will not be in effect
if Wake up on LAN or Anytime USB charge (if supported by your system) is enabled.
The ECO Sleep is set to Normal mode by
default. You can change the mode by following steps.
Windows7
- Select [Start]
-> [All Programs] -> [FUJITSU - Battery Utility], then click [ECO Sleep]. The
[ECO Sleep - Battery Utility] window appears.
- Follow the instructions that appear in the [ECO Sleep - Battery Utility] window.
Windows8 or Windows8.1
- Go to All Apps screen.
- Click [ECO Sleep] at the [FUJITSU - Battery Utility] in the
[Apps] list. The [ECO Sleep - Battery Utility] window appears.
- Follow the instructions that appear in the [ECO Sleep -
Battery Utility] window.
Setting up the discharge setting of the battery
Using this utility, you can change the discharge setting of the battery.
In the discharge setting, there is Parallel discharge and Serial Discharge.
The difference between the two methods is as follows.
- Parallel discharge (initial state):
When two batteries are installed, main battery and additional battery are discharged at the same time.
- Serial discharge: When two batteries are installed,
the additional battery is discharged first. Once the additional battery is discharged,
the main battery begins to discharge.
The discharge setting is set to Parallel discharge mode by default.
You can set up the discharge mode of the battery using the following procedure.
Windows7
- Select [Start]
-> [All Programs] -> [FUJITSU - Battery Utility], then click [Battery discharge setting]. The [Battery discharge setting - Battery
Utility] window appears.
- Follow the instructions that appear in the [Battery discharge
setting - Battery Utility] window.
Windows8 or Windows8.1
- Go to All Apps screen.
- Click [Battery discharge setting] at the [FUJITSU - Battery Utility]
in the [Apps] list. The [Battery discharge setting - Battery Utility]
window appears.
- Follow the instructions that appear in the [Battery discharge
setting - Battery Utility] window.
Battery charging scheme
Battery charging scheme [Charge from keyboard docking station battery to system battery]
allows you to configure the battery charging procedure when the system is docked to the keyboard docking station.
Note that this feature only works when the system is under
power saving mode(Sleep, Hibernation) or off state.
This feature does not work when the system is on.
Note that this feature does not work when AC adapter
is connected.
The Battery charging scheme is set to disable mode by
default. You can change the mode by following steps.
Windows7
- Select [Start]
-> [All Programs] -> [FUJITSU - Battery Utility], then click [Battery charging scheme]. The
[Battery charging scheme - Battery Utility] window appears.
- Follow the instructions that appear in the [Battery charging scheme - Battery Utility] window.
Windows8 or Windows8.1
- Go to All Apps screen.
- Click [Battery charging scheme] at the [FUJITSU - Battery Utility]
in the [Apps] list. The [Battery charging scheme - Battery Utility] window appears.
- Follow the instructions that appear in the [Battery charging scheme - Battery Utility] window.
