Fujitsu provides threefold boost to ETERNUS Storage Systems
Extended capacity, increased flexibility and strengthened business critical focus
Fujitsu in-line with its mission critical computing focus, has extended the ETERNUS open system storage product range to offer the latest state-of-the-art cost/performance benefits. The new ETERNUS3000 models 200 and 400 offer five configuration choices with only one model break for systems scaling from 146GB all the way up to 35TB. These highly reliable disk array systems also support richer non-stop backup, expansion and reconfiguration functions for mission critical operation in non-stop environments.
Everything about ETERNUS3000 shows significant improvement. The host interface is now 2Gbps as standard, there are more drive ports, and with up to 4GB of cache per controller and the latest high-speed disk drives, actual performance is 3 times greater than previous models. Ensuring the highest levels of reliability all components are multiplexed, even the batteries that maintain cache coherency in the duplex cache during any unexpected power outages.
These are systems for the most demanding data processing situations. With broadband traffic growing at unprecedented rates and 24 x 7 operation becoming the standard, we have produced storage systems that can be expanded, reconfigured, maintained and secured without ever stopping their operation.
New features make it easy to add capacity, change the structure of RAID storage and maintain in-line duplex copies of data without business process interruption. Further the latest self-diagnosis and autonomous features built in to ETERNUS3000 automatically check the performance of all-important components. For example if a disk drive's performance falls below an acceptable threshold, its data is automatically copied to a hot spare disk and the administrator notified to hot swap the drive prior to any failure.
One reason for SAN storage was the Return on Investment (ROI) benefits made by being able to consolidate disk storage previously associated with separate server systems. Spare capacity could then be shared by a number of systems. In keeping with their improved cost/performance, ETERNUS3000 takes this concept to the Logical Unit Number (LUN) level. Now LUN can be concatenated and their capacity treated as a contiguous unit making it possible to share spare capacity across LUN.
ETERNUS3000 come in a number of form factors, for flexible deployment. Pedestal, pre-configured floor-standing models and rackable components are all available. They are equally at home in UNIXR and IntelR environments and make the perfect companion for Fujitsu's other global mission critical product lines including PRIMEPOWER and PRIMERGY servers and ETERNUS SF (previous Softek) storage software.
