Fujitsu Microelectronics Mergers Its Design & Sales Centers in Shanghai to Speed up Arrangement for Chinese Market
Shanghai, November 15, 2007 — Fujitsu Microelectronics (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. announced recently that its design center in Shanghai has been moved to Bund Center Mansion to make up a new headquarter of Fujitsu Microelectronics in China by combining with the original sales and marketing departments. This action integrates the company's existing design and sales resources in Shanghai area, which correlates with the company's design centers in Chengdu and Hong Kong to make a new layout of Fujitsu Microelectronics' design team in Chinese market and add new strength to Fujitsu Microelectronics' efforts in "Chinese creation".
Establishment of the new design center of Fujitsu Microelectronics indicates that Fujitsu Headquarter attaches great importance to Chinese market, incorporating its expansion in Chinese market and technology development into its global strategy. Unlike many foreign companies that regard China as the manufacturing base, Fujitsu Microelectronics commits to "Chinese creation" for all of its production lines since it set up an office in China. Especially, Fujitsu Microelectronics has made incessant efforts on development and market expansion for auto electronics, digital TV and WiMAX products, and has made great achievements. As early as in 2002, 8-bit and 16-bit MCUs developed by Fujitsu Microelectronics have been successfully applied in auto and consumable markets. Its inverter air-conditioner and auto meters produced at that time sold well in the market. Market share of auto CAN micro-controller developed by Fujitsu Microelectronics ranked even among top three in the world in 2005; while in 2004, Fujitsu Microelectronics cooperated with local partners to develop fixing WiMAX wafter and promoted many styles to meet different market demands. The highly integrated 802.16e wafer to be sold in the market shall lead the tide of WiMAX card application market; with growing demands for digital TV in inner China, Fujitsu established a design team of digital audio-video and set-top box in China in 2005 to provide all digital TV solutions for local and global customers. Only one year after the team was formed, Fujitsu's cable TV chips and solutions have been recognized by the market and have made significant achievements.
Within four years, labor force of Fujitsu Microelectronics in Shanghai has been enlarged to over 150 people, more than half of which are design engineers. In the next two years, this team is expected to be nearly doubled. In addition to great expansion of its research center in Shanghai, design teams of Fujitsu in Chengdu and Hong Kong are also gradually intensified to provide better development and support services for Chinese customers based on integrating designing resources at all places.
"Facing the international standards keeping updated, price competition increasingly hot, and market bottleneck of product similarity, Fujitsu shall make full use of its superior platform and cooperate with IC and system manufacturers of the industry to develop different products and help Chinese customers to win among fierce competition," said Mr. Michael Shi, Chairman and CEO of Fujitsu Microelectronics Asia-Pacific, when talking about future development.
