Fujitsu Microelectronics (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.
New 32-bit MCU for high-performance white goods
The strong A/D converter and close control achieve multifunction and energy efficiency
Shanghai, March 30, 2006 — Fujitsu Microelectronics (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., announces that as an addition to the 32-bit microcontrollers (MCU in the following)"FR family(1)", Fujitsu Microelectronics has successfully developed the "MB91470" series for high-performance white goods. The series will be introduced to market in July this year.
To further enhance the white goods that are becoming more and more multifunctional and require higher-performance in recent years, the specially designed series have achieved environment-friendly goals due to its energy efficiency and low noise.
With the wide use of various sensitive sensors, the white goods are becoming more and more multifunctional, e.g. the microwave oven with multiple temperature control system and the steam cooking function; the air conditioner with dirt air management system and humidifying function etc. Moreover, there is also a big demand in the market for microwave ovens and induction heating cookers with closer temperature adjustments; air conditioners and washing machines with less noise. To realize this, processing the collected information from sensors in real time and a more accurate control are indispensable. "MB91F479", which is the first product of the series, is capable of detecting the tiniest changes from various sensors and operate at a smooth speed by installing the efficient A/D converter(2) of 20 channels which is most popularly used in industry. As a result, it contributes to the high development of the multifunctional white goods with energy-efficiency and low-noise features.

Features of the product
- Standardization of the A/D converter of 20 channels results in the best noise reduction and power consumption levels in the
industry.
Information is collected from 20 sensors at most by adopting the A/D converter of 20 Channels. Functions such as steam cooking in microwave oven and multi-control of temperature in air condition are all carried out by real-time information processing, insuring multifunction and high-performance of products. - By adopting the 12-bit A/D converter and PWM control(3) reduces the consumption of energy and lower noise levels significantly.
Any minute change can be detected by the 12 bit A/D converter, which is of the highest definition inside the industry. Associated with PWM control, a smooth-speed and close control can be achieved. As a result, unnecessary power consumption is effectively decreased, and lower noise levels is achieved by using a smooth-speed motor. - By adopting the 32-bit CPU core "FR60" is high-speed processing achieved.
High-speed processing of various information can be achieved in real time by adopting the"FR60"(4) that operates at 80 MHz which is at the highest level inside industry.
Moreover, the load of CPU can be decreased by adopting the SPA circuit(5) for the control calculation, which is separated from CPU and operates at a high processing speed.
