Fujitsu Microelectronics participates in IC China 2005 showing its great capability in providing integrated service to its clients

Shanghai, September 21, 2005 — Fujitsu Microelectronics (Shanghai) Co., Ltd participated in the third China International Semiconducteur and Integrated Circuit Exhibition & Seminar (IC China) held in Beijing not long ago. Fujitsu Microelectronics, as a semi-conductor manufacturer whose strength lies in vertical and integrated service, explored fully at the Forum, with all other industry people, the development trend of high degree integration of software and hardware, and displayed, for the domestic manufacturers, a beautiful future in working together in such a highly integrated modern era.

At this IC China Forum, the Vice Chairman of Fujitsu Microelectronics (Shanghai) Co., Ltd, Mr Tetsuo Suzuki, with its world leading 90 nanometre technology and its technology in Fujitsu's engine control special module, displayed their highest real capacity and desired future in progressing to new heights hand-in-hand with the customer in the background of this highly integrated era.

At the Forum, Mr Tetsuo Suzuki expresses in his speech that with the rapid progress in IT technology, "Ubiquitous" has become a new key word in IT industry. The so-called "Ubiquitous" refers to that the future high tech IT will integrate seamlessly into our daily lives, allowing us, at every moment, within finger reach, to enjoy the high tech life's comfort and portability. However, to reach such a new world of "Ubiquitous", it requires including all in one chip the rather large and complex intelligent processes, and then having high degree integrating with the hardware. Therefore a small scaled progress in storing large capacity into one chip has become an important focus in the current R&D of semi-conductors.

Mr Tetsuo Suzuki introduces that, as the world's first manufacturer in achieving 90 nanometre volume production, Fujitsu's 90 nanometre products have the following three advantages when compared with other similar manufacturers: firstly, the speed is 25% faster than the industry average; secondly, power consumption for production is 25% lower than the industry average; thirdly, the leaking current of Fujutsu's 90 nanometre technology can been seen as the "smallest in the industry". The reason for achieving low current leakage is because Fujutsu has made improvement in the source terminal and the surroundings of the leaking terminal of the logical transistor, therefore can accurately control the impurities distribution in the passage directly under the entry circuit. With this field leading 90 nanometre technology, Fujitsu can help customers produce mobile phones that have six hours of continuous talking time and 1000 hours of stand-by time. At the same time, Fujitsu's R&D team are still actively dedicating themselves to the R&D of 45 nanometre technology. Fujitsu hopes to be able to establish 45 nanometre manufacturing technology by around 2010.

Apart from the advanced 90 nanometre technology, Mr Tetsuo Suzuki also shows, at the Forum, Fujitsu engine control special module which is the latest achievement in the current field hot spot of automobile electronics. This is an engine control technology that helps automobiles become more high tech. In today's automobile application field, engines' usage becomes more and more popular, especially in the systems of emphasizing using electronics, having low consumption and low environmental damage, the application of DC engine has become even more popular. The 16bit/32bit engine control special unit produced by Fujitsu has a variety of models which can provide the customer with different applications of the engine control systems, from small scaled storage types to the high speed working types.

"We believe that the value of and the role played by software and semi-conductors are ever increasing. We also believe that software and semi-conductors are integrating into one body." Mr Tetsuo Suzuki expresses at the end of his speech, "We Fujitsu have rather rich experience in the field of integrating software and hardware, trusting that we can provide the customer satisfactory service at different levels using individual products or auxiliary solution."
