Shanghai, July 27, 2005 — Fujitsu Limited has successfully developed high performance 32 bit MCU MB91270 series, and samples will be available for sale from today. This series is suitable for the current widely used in-car network system world standard specification CAN (Note 1) and LIN (Note 2).
As this product is an accessory to 11 channel communication interface which are of the highest standard in this field, in 32 bit high performance CPU inner core, capable of a variety of high speed processing, it makes possible develop a control unit (Note 3) that further improves car security.
At present, with the wide use of in-car network, which is capable of conducting all kinds of operational controls, car performance improves continuously. In future, there will be higher requirement for car security, for example, people would hope that the car is capable of receiving information through a video camera or a radar, timely process information in order to control car speed and distance automatically.
This time, the micro control device MB91270 series developed by Fujitsu Limited just meets this kind of requirement, having the high performance 32 bit CPU inner core FR60Lite as an accessory to the I2C (Note 4) communication interface where data is exchanged between in-car network CAN, LIN and the storage device. The communication channels that use this accessory are 11 in total, which has reached the best standard in this field. The application of this product series can have high speed and high volume top level processing, which makes possible the development of a high security control unit.
Since 1998, Fujitsu Limited has been dedicating itself to the development of micro control units used for in-car network, the 16 bit CAN internal MCU has gained top market share in the world. We will further expand the series of 32 bit CAN MCU, to meet the development requirement of higher performance and better security control unit.

Use RISC Series(6) (Note 6) CPU inner core FR60Lite which has the highest operating speed reaching 32MHz, capable of fast processing of input and output data. - 2. Accessory to 11 communication channels that are of highest standard within the field, having a variety of communication
interfaces.
Normally one control unit uses one micro control unit. With this one control unit, data from 11 channels can be processed.
- 3. Accessory to 24 AD exchanging channels used for inputting simulated signals from all kinds of sensors.
Capable of obtaining 24 channel simulated signals from all kinds of sensors that are of control unit interfacing the airbag, car air-conditioning and ABS (Anti-locking Breaking System) etc. - 4. Accessory to hardware timer that is specially used by CPU operating monitor.
Monitoring CPU's operating situation improves its reliability. Meanwhile, as it no longer requires an IC used specially by the timer, it helps reduce costs. - 5. Compatible to 16 bit micro control device MB90340A series pin.
Compatible with our Company's special pin for 16 bit CAN internal micro control device MB90340A series power supply. Therefore, the same assembling base board can basically be used when the control unit is developed in order to reduce the development labour hours.

- Inter IC Bus. A type of serial communication method defined by Phillip Company, having interfaces for signal exchange amongst multiple machines through 2 piece signal wiring. (For standard model, the highest communication speed is 100KB per second, for high speed model, the highest communication speed is 400KB per second.)
