Fujitsu participated in Qingdao IAFA 2005 with its Advanced Technology in 90 nanometre

Shanghai, July 13, 2005 — Fujitsu Microelectronics (Shanghai) Co., Ltd attended the IA Industry Annual International Top Level Summit Talk and Exhibition: 2005 IAFA (Information Appliances Forum Asia).IAFA attracted experts of global authority and top businesses, mainly discussing IA's development in Asia Pacific Region. With its 90 nanometre advanced technology, its rich experience in digital consumer electronics and communication application field, and the operational model of how Fujitsu dedicates its resources to provide satisfactory solution to Chinese customers, the world top business Fujitsu, together with experts of all fields, explored 3C integration concept and the new life ideals with digital science and technology.

The IAFA held in Qingdao, coincided, for the first time, with consumer electronics forum that was closely related to IAFA, ie: Sino Consumer Electronics Show (SINOCES). This had, for the first time, given the initial recognition of having "3c integration" as the theme of the Forum's discussion, which was beneficial in resolving difficult problems encountered by global information electronics for home appliances and 3C integration.

World-wide top IA business leaders including leaders from Fujitsu all attended IAFA and made speeches, amongst whom, the Senior Vice President of Fujitsu's Electronic Devices Business Group, Mr Yoji Hino, attracted a lot of attention from the field with his theme speech "Advanced Semiconductor Technology & Product Enabling Advanced Life".

In his speech, Mr Yoji Hino, mentions that the new era is a time of high degree integration and complexity and one of the reasons is that the technology is continuously merging and the development of progress of semi-conductors is a main factor. Now one single chip can have billions of transistors and the chip is now inserted into everything; another factor is the continuous progress of software. Software is invisible, but it makes equipment intelligence ever increase. A rather complex world is being planted equipment through software, and when all of these intelligent equipment gets connected into a network, the system becomes even more complex. In such an era of high degree integration and complexity, facilitation work becomes extremely important.

Regarding the 90 nanometre technology that has the world attention, Mr Yoji Hino expresses that in the area of 90 nanometre technology, Fujitsu not only can provide the technology of low power consumption for the facilitating equipment and the technology of low operating power pressure, it is also the world's first company that has successfully enabled a steady volume production of 90 nanometre transistors. For the 90 nanometre technology, Fujitsu provides <12 micrometre 6T-SRAM unit, to guarantee the reduction of product's space, copper conducting wire and the entire LOW-K material. To facilitate all of these, Fujitsu also provides its packaging technology, wireless connecting technology and big DIE measurements. Further, Fujitsu has established a more advanced 65 nanometre technology through utilising it 90 nanometre technical knowledge.

Mr Yoji Hino further expresses that Fujitsu Group and Fujitsu expert team for laboratory work have already commenced the development of 45 nanometre panel point Technology. Fujitsu believes that in order to have breakthroughs in 45 nanometre panel point, it is necessary to have further developments in photo etching, material and other technology. Fujitsu hopes to have its production technology of 45 nanometre by 2010.

Fujitsu firmly believes that through small scaled progresses, a lot of power capacity can be stored on one chip. Chip system integration represents a high degree merging of technology, the chip even becomes the product itself, and in future, it will develop into a world where the application will be placed on a chip. Facing the competition that is ahead of us, Fujitsu will continuously improve its technology, to work towards continuous breakthroughs in the new life of science and technology for the humanity with its most advanced technology.
