The 20th Anniversary Celebration of FRDC

Time flies really fast! In October 2018, Fujitsu Research and Development Center Co., Ltd. （FRDC）has celebrated its 20th anniversary. To celebrate the growth and harvest of the past 20 years, FRDC would like to thank all of the great partners and dear friends which have always been supportive and thoughtful from the very beginning of launching of FRDC. On Oct. 26, 2018, we were meeting on this solemn and joyous occasion to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Fujitsu Research and Development Center Co., Ltd. （FRDC） at Kempinski hotel in Beijing.

Regarding the participants in this celebration event, in addition to all FRDC employees, we also invited the heads of governments, universities, along with many partnership firms, also the top management of other Fujitsu’s related subsidiaries in China, besides all of them, and many of ex-employees including important management staff also being invited.

The celebration was divided into three parts, which including special speeches, appreciation luncheon and demonstrations of R&D technology achievement.

First of all, Mr. SASAKI, Shigeru, CTO of Fujitsu Limited and CEO of Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. and Chairman of FRDC, has delivered an excellent opening speech to all of the guests. This year is not only the 20th anniversary of the establishment of FRDC, but also the 50th anniversary of Fujitsu Laboratories, therefore CEO Mr. SASAKI introduced the development history of Fujitsu Laboratories, global R&D activities, research principles and company’s mission & responsibilities.

Dr. NAOI, Satoshi, Fellow of Fujitsu Laboratories and President of FRDC, introduced the development history of FRDC in 20 years, including the basic principles of FRDC, review of important memorabilia and major R&D activities, etc.

Mr. KUNISAWA, Arimichi, Corporate Executive Officer, Head of Reason, Fujitsu Limited delivered a speech on “Fujitsu’s New Initiative in Asia Area—Creating a Digital Innovation with Customers”, which introduced the changes and values of the Fujitsu group, and the overview of Fujitsu in Asia as well as in China, also the cases of creating a win-win situation with customers in digital innovations.

At the beginning of appreciation luncheon, Mr. GUO Xianyong, the assistant to the head of Chaoyang District Government of Beijing, speeches that FRDC moved into the Chaoyang District from 2001, as a high-tech enterprise and R&D institution, has always been strongly supported by Chaoyang district government. Mr. GUO introduced the excellent investment environment in Chaoyang District and also fully affirmed the contribution of FRDC to the Chaoyang District as well as to the society, as the R&D head-quarter of Fujitsu group in China. Dr. GUO, Jun, Vice President of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and Dr. LI Shutao, President Assistant of Hunan University have guest speeches on behalf of the universities, respectively. They reviewed the cooperation history with FRDC, also congratulated FRDC on its 20 years birthday, and are looking forward to co-create and co-work more in the future.

During the luncheon, the staff prepared a variety of programs to celebrate FRDC’s birthday. All of the employees gathered together to sing the company social song “Foward Fujitsu”, which was created on the occasion of the company’s 15th anniversary. In addition, other performances such as “hand shadow dance”, “Tai Chi ”and “Japanese group, AKB48’s song & dance entitled on “Sakura no Hanabira-Tachi (Cherry-Blossom petals)” had been shown to the guests as well. At the last part of this event, some of the employees sang and danced together, performing the newly created company cheering social song ”Direction of Dreams”. The wonderful programs prepared by the staff of FRDC received a lot of applauses from all of the guest audiences.

Oulu Echo(Beijing), Sanyou intellectual Property Agency Ltd., Ricoh China and some of senior employees have presented birthday gifts to FRDC. In order to celebrate the FRDC’s 20 years birthday, former chairman Dr. MOCHIDA, Yukou, Former Chairman, Mr. YOSHIKAWA, Seiichi, Former Chairman, Mr. SASAKI, Shigeru, Present Chairman, and Dr. NAOI, Satoshi, Present President, went to the stage to cut the blessing birthday cake for everyone.

After the luncheon, FRDC prepared several recent demonstrations of the achievement of R&D technologies.

With blessings, smiles and happy songs, the 20th anniversary celebration of FRDC ended successfully. Twenty years is a milestone, is a brand new starting as well, from this point, FRDC will continue its challenge and innovation, will constantly keep going with partners and customers to create more and more win-win business!
