To provide our customers with products and services that have minimal environmental impact, the Fujitsu Group is promoting green procurement together with our business partners.
The Fujitsu Group has formalized its basic requirements regarding procurement of eco-friendly parts, materials, and products as the Fujitsu Group Green Procurement Direction, and is moving forward with green procurement activities together with business partners inside and outside Japan.
We request that our business partners meet the following requirements to promote green procurement.
We request our business partners to establish environmental management systems (EMS) to ensure that they continuously implement environmental burden reduction activities. In principal, we would like them to have third party certified EMS. Where this is not possible, we ask them to build an EMS incorporating the PDCA cycle suited to their circumstances.
The Fujitsu Group has advocated measures to reduce or limit the CO2 emissions of our business partners aiming to step up to stage 2 activities. Specifically, we distributed our Group’s original environmental surveys to our new business partners and checked the status of their activities for reducing CO2 emissions. For business partners who have not reached stage 2 activities, we provided our own check lists featuring easily actionable case studies as opportunities for the partners to start implementing their own activities.
In the Environmental Action Plan (Stage VII), the Fujitsu Group acknowledges that the limitation or reduction of CO2 emissions upstream in the value chain is an important issue that companies should address. We, therefore, will expand our environmental protection activities to include solution services and other non-component business partners. Regarding the conservation of biodiversity in particular, we will continue with our supplier-focused activities to reinforce the importance of protecting biodiversity, and pursue green procurement activities together with business partners.
We also reinforce compliance such as acquiring Information on Chemical Substances Contained in Products and asking establishment of Chemical Substance Management System (CMS).
