Fujitsu Storage ETERNUS DX200 S3 - Entry level storage with enterprise class performance
January 28, 2014
In the latest Storage Performance Council's(*Note 1) SPC Benchmark-1™(*Note 2) , evaluating IOPS, $/IOPS and response times, Fujitsu Storage ETERNUS DX200 S3 has reigned supreme over all dual controller midrange storage systems, and even some multi controller enterprise class storage systems (January 2014).
- Fujitsu Storage ETERNUS DX200 S3 recorded a response time of 0.63 milliseconds at 100% load, the fastest SPC-1 time ever.
- Running at more than 200,000 SPC-1 IOPS™, the new ETERNUS DX200 S3 storage system is propelled into the same league as much higher priced, mid-range and enterprise systems. This also allows the system to compete closely with numerous all-flash arrays.
- The low cost dual-controller Fujitsu Storage ETERNUS DX200 S3 delivers outstanding price performance at $0.77/ SPC-1 IOPS™. This value is only surpassed by three specialized all-flash-arrays and one multi-controller midrange system.
For companies faced with a limited storage budget, Fujitsu Storage ETERNUS DX200 S3 allows them to take advantage of outstanding performance at a low cost. Particularly for small and medium sized businesses (SMB), the entry class storage solution can help gain greater business insight and strengthen market competiveness. Leveraging functionality in the new ETERNUS DX system to prioritize specific business processes such as; online transaction processing (OLTP), business intelligence applications and real-time big data analytics, it can deliver the same performance levels as higher class solutions.
The high response time and throughput architecture of Fujitsu Storage ETERNUS DX S3 forms a powerful platform, even for mission-critical environments where large database processing and OLTP is required. Moreover the ETERNUS DX drives advantages in both speed and costs for server consolidation and/or virtualization (server or VDI) environment which typically requires higher performance. For enterprises planning similar business improvements in the future, the unmatched performance of Fujitsu Storage ETERNUS DX S3 ensures investment in additional resources is not necessary.
With remarkable scalability and flexibility in both capacity and connectivity, the ETERNUS DX family caters to the IT requirements of businesses of all sizes, irrespective of budget limitations.
The test results are published on the Storage Performance Council (SPC) web site as of the 30th December 2013, and will be officially accepted after the 60-day peer review period. See referenced documents for complete benchmark results:
The SPC Benchmark-1™ test program was achieved with only SSDs (Solid State Drive) configured on the ETERNUS DX200 S3 system. SSDs were supplied through collaboration with HGST.
