Supported SED and 2.5" Nearline 1TB HDD for ETERNUS DX S2 disk storage systems Data encryption without performance loss
May 14, 2012
Fujitsu has enhanced its ETERNUS DX S2 disk storage systems to support hardware-based encryption. This provides you with more robust and flexible data protection without any performance loss.
The encryption with firmware supported by default offers the choice of the world standard 128 bit AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) and Fujitsu's own high performance encryption both delivering superior performance. Now, ETERNUS DX80 S2/DX90 S2 entry level disk storage system and ETERNUS DX400 series mid-range level disk storage systems also offer Self Encryption Drives (SED). This enables encryption without the load normally caused by firmware encryption. (*Note 1)
The ETERNUS DX S2 series also now offer an unparalleled flexibility in selection of high speed, reliable and capacious drives by offering the large capacity and highly cost effective 2.5" Nearline SAS disk drives at 1TB/7,200rpm. (*Note 1)
A variety of drives, the 2.5" and 3.5" types of online disk drives, Nearline disk drives, and a wide range of SSD are provided and can be selected as required, meeting your need for freedom and readiness. A combination of different types of drives in the same enclosure is also possible. (* Note 2)
*Note 1: The ETERNUS DX8700 S2 series enterprise storage system, announced in November 2011, supports this.
*Note 2: but different sized drives, both 2.5" and 3.5" type drives, cannot be combined in the same enclosure.
