Greater productivity, usability and control
Web and data centre services from Fujitsu
BIS - UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) Portal

UKTI chose Fujitsu to develop and implement the new web site, together with a new Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, primarily because it was the existing outsourcing partner for the management of BIS’ corporate IT systems and because it had also developed one of UKTI’s existing web sites, which it continued to deliver under a managed service contract.
UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) is part of the Department for Business Innovation & Skills (BIS) and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. UKTI’s role is to help UK companies to expand their businesses overseas or attract overseas businesses to set up or expand business in the UK. The organisation also has an increasing focus on attracting R&D and high tech investment to bring knowledge driven projects to the UK.
In 2001, as part of the development of its wider eBusiness strategy, UKTI identified the need for a more sophisticated web site for its activities that would act as a platform to consolidate its existing web presence, control access to certain information and enable the delivery of personalised content. It also wanted to provide UKTI staff with a single sign-on onto other applications – particularly the organisations extranet and planned CRM system hosted within the same infrastructure. This would also allow users to create and manage their own content and increase knowledge sharing within the department and begin to remove some of the frustrations of multiple passwords for different applications.
