The 10G Ethernet technology has been limited by the cost of interconnects at a time when both telecommunications and IT spending has remained stagnant. Two IEEE standards that will bring the cost of 10Gbps Ethernet interconnects down, and revolutionize connectivity in both the IT and Broadband market is the 10Gbps Ethernet over copper cable (CX-4), and the 10Gbps over twisted pair (10G-BaseT).
