Fujitsu Goes Pervasive at the FMI Show

Attendees Can Live the Pervasive Retailing Experience at Booth #607

Frisco, TX, May 3, 2007 — Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. today announced that a suite of solutions from Fujitsu and its partners will come to life in a Pervasive Retailing™ experience at booth #607 at The New FMI Show plus MARKETECHNICS®, May 6-8, 2007 in Chicago.

"FMI is the biggest grocery-specific show in the industry and presents an excellent stage to showcase how our Pervasive Retailing Solutions are positively impacting the grocery shopping experience," said Peter Wolf, vice president of marketing at Fujitsu. "We are excited to offer attendees a preview of our upcoming release of GlobalSTORE point-of-sale (POS) application, with enhanced features for North American grocers, and demo our new U-Scan Genesis self-checkout systems."

Fujitsu’s "experience zones" at booth #607 will highlight the interoperability of the company’s Pervasive Retailing Framework (PRF) and other in-store technology in a range of retail environments.

To begin the experience, attendees can join a “guided tour” of the booth and pick up an RFID-based contactless key tag at the Fujitsu booth reception desk. Visitors then enroll at one of two kiosk stations to interact with integrated applications throughout the booth. Attendees that take the guided tour and make a transaction with their contactless key tag will be entered in a drawing to win an iPod.

The four customer shopping zones (produce/wine/cheese, deli, bakery and checkout) will feature:

  • New North American Grocery POS application – Get a preview of how grocers can enhance the customer experience, improve checkout speed and expedite integration with the new GlobalSTORE for grocery application.
  • New Self-checkout – Experience U-Scan Genesis™, a new self-checkout system offering a smaller footprint and advanced capabilities that simplify and speed-up self-checkout.
  • Kiosk-based Suggestive Selling – See how technology is used to suggest food and wine pairings to customers to help generate increased sales.
  • Self-ordering – Order a bakery cake (bakery zone) or deli meats (deli zone) at a U-Serv kiosk to see how self-ordering solutions reduce customers’ time waiting in line.
  • Mobile Attendant– Observe how Fujitsu’s iPAD™ wireless handheld device enables one associate to support up to six self-checkout lanes without the need for an attendant station.
  • Integrated Customer Loyalty – Explore how customers get targeted promotions and discounts from loyalty programs (CustomerCENTER® integrated with GlobalSTORE and Fujitsu key tag).
  • Targeted Digital Promotions – See how digital direct promotions can be linked to customer profiles in loyalty programs.

The back office and support areas will feature:

  • Manager’s Office – Check out the uncompromising reliability of Fujitsu enterprise servers, data storage and mobile products, and learn how you can gain business value through your IT investments.
  • Back Office – See how grocers can improve store operations with retail execution management solutions and gain visibility to customer interactions with video cameras, sensor devices and analytics.
  • Headquarters – Learn how in-house stored value card programs reduce retailers’ transaction costs with ValueCENTER and see how grocers can quickly and easily set-up and execute targeted loyalty offers in real-time with CustomerCENTER.

Fujitsu Partners in the booth include: Accelitec, Bizerba, Brickstream, Epson, Intel, mCosm, Metrologic, Microsoft, NextChoice, Reflexis, ShoptoCook and TELentice.

Fujitsu solutions will also be demonstrated at Epson booth #426 and Metrologic booth #664.
