Fujitsu Goes Pervasive at NRF 2007

Attendees Can Live the Pervasive Retailing Experience at Booth #1613

Frisco, TX, January 10, 2007 — Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. today announced that a suite of solutions from Fujitsu and its partners will come to life in a Pervasive Retailing™ experience at the NRF Annual 2007 trade show, Jan. 15-16 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

"NRF is the biggest show in the retail industry and presents the largest stage to showcase how our Pervasive Retailing Solutions are positively impacting the shopping experience," said Ed Soladay, chief operating officer at Fujitsu. "Attendees can drop by our booth, obtain a special RFID-based contactless key tag and explore the Pervasive Retailing experience by performing transactions in various retail zones."

Fujitsu’s "experience zones" at booth #1613 showcase the interoperability of the company’s Pervasive Retailing Framework (PRF) and other in-store technology in a range of retail environments.

To begin the experience, attendees can pick up a contactless key tag at the reception desk in Fujitsu’s booth and enroll at the kiosk station, then interact with integrated applications throughout the booth. After making a sample transaction, they’ll be entered in a drawing to win a Fujitsu laptop.

The four retailing zones (pet, housewares, electronics and apparel) will feature:

  • Fujitsu GlobalSTORE – See why leading retailers leverage GlobalSTORE as their core POS application to deliver a seamless customer experience and why it was recently rated very highly in POS reports from Gartner and Forrester.
  • Contactless Interactions (RFID) – With the Fujitsu key tag, experience how customers can use one contactless device as identification in loyalty programs and for payment (prepaid, credit, debit or ACH).
  • Advanced Customer Security – Learn how integrating customer photo ID and cell phone confirmation of transactions improves security.
  • Line-busting – Observe how Fujitsu iPADTM, integrated to GlobalSTORE® point-of-sale (POS), improves customer service and shortens checkout lines.
  • Integrated Customer Loyalty – Explore how customers get targeted promotions and discounts from loyalty programs (CustomerCENTER® integrated with GlobalSTORE and Fujitsu key tag).
  • Wireless eSignage – Learn how mesh networks are shaping the way retailers deploy dynamic, real-time in-store signage.
  • Targeted Digital Promotions – See how digital direct promotions can be linked to customer profiles in loyalty programs.
  • New Self-checkout – Experience U-Scan Genesis™, a new self-checkout system offering a smaller footprint and advanced capabilities that simplify and speed-up self-checkout.

The back-office and support areas will feature:

  • Store Operations – See how real-time visibility to store operations can increase sales and in-house stored value card programs reduce costs.
  • Networking and RFID – Observe item-level RFID tagging, next-generation IP-based voice and data communications systems and targeted digital media in action.
  • Technology Support – Learn how our help desk solution and maintenance services offerings can improve store operations and reduce retailer costs.

Fujitsu Partners in the booth include AbsoluteSKY, Accelitec, Epson, Intel, Metrologic, Microsoft, Nivis, Reflexis, SonicWALL, TELentice, Verizon and Vertical Communications.

Fujitsu solutions also will be demonstrated at Epson booth #2805, Jesta booth #2223, Metrologic booth #1437 and Microsoft booth #818.
