Fujitsu Extends TeamPoS Family With New Point-of-Service Systems
Line of terminals and kiosks simplifies retailers’ consumer touch points and reduces costs
New York, NY, January 16, 2006 — Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. has introduced the TeamPoS 3000 line of point-of-service (POS) terminals and kiosks. The new system extends the benefits of its predecessors (TeamPoS 2000 series) with enhancements that simplify retailers’ point-of-service operations, increase store performance and decrease maintenance time and costs.
The TeamPoS 3000 offers new benefits including improved reliability, enhanced serviceability and support for the latest peripheral technology. With consistent configuration and components across the product family (broad range of terminal and kiosk models), maintenance and integration are simplified. TeamPoS 3000 terminals and kiosks also are the first retailing products to be launched under Fujitsu’s committed adherence to RoHS and WEEE "green" standards.
"The primary advantage of the TeamPoS 3000 is the retailer’s ability to effectively manage the systems and quickly and efficiently service them at a minimal cost," said Chris Silver, customer marketing for store technology, Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. "The idea of reducing cost is not just lowering the price of each unit – it’s about reducing cost over the lifetime of the retailer’s IT assets and managing assets intelligently. The overall result is relentless cost reduction."
The TeamPoS 3000 is based on Intel Corp.’s embedded technology and can use either the Intel® Pentium® M or Intel® Celeron® M processors to create a high-performance, low-power solution. Intel’s processors help efficiently process multiple customer service applications simultaneously and enhance the operational quality of the POS system, producing advanced features such as rich graphic displays and faster checkout, enhancing the in-store shopping experience.
The redesigned chassis of the TeamPoS 3000 offers easy access to major components from the front, and does not require removing cables. This allows store personnel to easily replace components – even hard drives – reducing dispatched service calls and retailers’ downtime and maintenance costs. The TeamPoS 3000 also continues Fujitsu’s "SmartPoS" concept introduced in 2003 that uses firmware to manage hardware and peripheral components either on-site or remotely by Fujitsu’s lifecycle services organization.
New SmartPoS peripherals for the TeamPoS 3000 are completely USB-based for quick, easy peripheral replacement and remote management, tracking and monitoring. Controllers for the TeamPoS 3000 are backward compatible with peripherals from the TeamPoS 2000, extending the ROI of the previous system and protecting a retailer’s prior investment.
Fujitsu added a new POS kiosk unit to the TeamPoS family that is available with either 12-inch or 15-inch touch screens, and includes either an integrated power supply for table placement or a remote power supply for wall mounting.
Primary Enhancements:
- All major components are accessible from the front, reducing maintenance costs
- Meets RoHS and WEEE "green" standards to improve environment
- New peripherals are USB-only for quick replacement
- Controllers are backward compatible with legacy TeamPoS 2000 peripherals
- Additional port capacity with add-on modules
- Serial ATA hard drives
- Optional Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID)
- Optional integrated Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
- Optional long-life battery backup
TeamPoS 3000 systems will be available for demonstration at the NRF 95th Annual Convention and Expo, Jan. 16-17, 2006 at the Jacob K. Javits Center, Booth #1613.
