Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc.
Frisco, TX, February 13, 2005 — Giant Foods Inc. of Landover, Md. (Giant-Landover) has completed its rollout of Fujitsu point-of-sale (POS) hardware and loyalty software to the chain's 200 stores throughout Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey and Washington, D.C. The rollout is part of Ahold's objective to consolidate POS hardware platforms for its Giant-Landover and Stop & Shop chains. Stop & Shop has used Fujitsu or its predecessor POS systems for more than 25 years.
Giant of Landover is a member of Ahold's retail operations that comprise Stop & Shop, Giant-Landover, Giant-Carlisle, Tops and Peapod.
Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. completed staging, integration and installation during a fast-paced, two-month project that saw the rollout of up to 30 stores per week. In addition to hardware and services, Fujitsu has incorporated its Corema loyalty software along with Giant's legacy applications on the new POS terminals.
"Fujitsu has enjoyed a long-standing, collaborative relationship with Giant-Landover's sister chain Stop & Shop," said Austen Mulinder, president and CEO of Frisco, Texas-based Fujitsu Transaction Solutions. "Our close partnership and the team effort of our field support staff enabled Fujitsu to meet the extremely aggressive deployment targets Ahold set for the Giant-Landover rollout. Ahold's decision to utilize the same platform at Giant-Landover that is used by Stop & Shop will help the retailer streamline its operations."
"Our project with Fujitsu represents a significant regional investment in in-store technology that helps us achieve our business objectives," said Gina Ventre, vice president, operations and technology support at Stop & Shop.
