Extenda is "RetailReady" for Fujitsu's TeamPoS Platform

Leading Next-generation Retail Software Is Designed for Large Grocery Chains

Frisco, TX, February 27, 2004 — Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. has awarded its "RetailReady" designation to Extenda AB's retail point-of-sale software application Extenda Retail 5. Extenda will market its software application to tier-one grocery chains in North America for use on Fujitsu's TeamPoS 2000 retail terminal.

Extenda Retail is a next-generation, point-of-sale application built on Java technology that runs on Windows and Linux operating systems. Its object-oriented and component-based structure is designed to simplify maintenance to lower the retailer's total cost of ownership. The application can be easily modified to meet the retailer's evolving needs.

"Fujitsu's RetailReady designation gives our customers the assurance that Extenda's POS application will combine effortlessly with Fujitsu's TeamPoS hardware platform to provide a solution that will help reduce total cost of ownership over the system's lifecycle," said Extenda Chief Executive Officer Peter Carlman.

"Extenda's retail application offers grocery chains an ideal next-generation POS platform that supports technology and features that retail IT departments are asking for," said Tom Juliano, senior vice president for Fujitsu's food and drug business. "Java technology and component-based architecture make the application exceptionally agile - easy to maintain, easy to modify - to future-proof the retailer's investment and maximize ROI. The RetailReady designation for Extenda Retail 5 ensures that Fujitsu will continue to provide customers with best-in-class options optimized for large grocery retailers."
