Fujitsu to Discuss Broadband IPTV Solutions at Light Reading LIVE! Conference in Las Vegas


Richardson, TX, March 13, 2006 — Fujitsu Network Communications Inc., a leading supplier of IT and wireline/wireless networking solutions, is a platinum sponsor of the Light Reading LIVE! conference entitled "Next-Gen Broadband Networks: IPTV Completing the Triple Play", which is being held next week at the Four Seasons hotel in Las Vegas. Floyd Ferguson, distinguished strategic planner at Fujitsu Network Communications, will present the Fujitsu perspective on broadband technologies enabling IPTV while participating in a panel session entitled, "Triple Play Services & Service Infrastructure". This dynamic session will review the impact that triple-play services, and especially IPTV, are having on service infrastructures. This panel will define the next-generation video services that are shaping carriers’ triple-play bundles. It will also examine the evolution of technology in carrier service infrastructure and headend content processing.

Sam Lisle, market development director at Fujitsu Network Communications, will participate in a panel session entitled "Next-Generation Broadband Network Infrastructure," which will discuss the impact that IPTV and other triple-play services will have on next-generation broadband networks. This panel will discuss video as a change agent that is driving service providers to re-evaluate products and network architectures. This session will also look closely at the changes underway in broadband access, edge/aggregation and metro transport architectures, and the role of WDM technology (including Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexers–ROADMs), next generation SONET (via Multiservice Provisioning Platforms–MSPPs) and Carrier Ethernet.

Floyd Ferguson is a distinguished strategic planner at Fujitsu Network Communications who specializes in network architectures and requirements for emerging and advanced data network services. Floyd has over 25 years of experience in the telecommunications and computer industries developing products, systems and data network services for both equipment vendors and service providers, employing Ethernet, ATM, and frame relay technologies. He has also developed SCSI and fiber channel mass storage solutions for the computer industry. Floyd has a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in telecommunications management from the University of Dallas.

Sam Lisle is a market development director at Fujitsu Network Communications who focuses on their broad range of SONET- and WDM-based optical transport technologies and solutions. Sam holds a U.S. patent in data-aware SONET technology and was instrumental in the development of the FLASHWAVE® 4000 MSPP platform from Fujitsu. Prior to Fujitsu, Sam worked for Bellcore (now Telcordia), where he specialized in the reliability analysis of SONET transport systems and fiber optic media. Sam holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech.
