Fujitsu to Discuss “WiMAX: From Development to Deployment” at Light Reading Live! Seminar

These sessions will address current WiMAX standards, developments, technologies, applications and deployment issues that carriers need to consider when planning their networks. The first panel session, “WiMAX – Applications, Challenges & Answers”, will examine fixed and mobile WiMAX applications and address the underlying technical and deployment challenges that must be addressed to make the WiMAX business model work. The session will also assess current regulatory and interoperability issues, and discuss how they can be overcome to accelerate mass-market adoption of WiMAX.
In the second panel session, “WiMAX Mobility – Technologies & Timeframes”, Jim and other panelists will have an in-depth discussion about the 802.16e WiMAX mobility standard, and how underlying component- and system-level technologies will impact overall network performance.

Jim Orr, principal network architect in the wireless market development group at Fujitsu, has worked in the telecommunications industry for 15 years, serving in various engineering, network planning, network architecture and marketing roles in both the vendor and the carrier community. Before joining Fujitsu in November 2001, Jim increased his industry experience through progressively expanding responsibilities in network architecture and implementation with Latus Lightworks, McLeod Communications, Caprock Communications, GST Telecom and Electric Lightwave. He began his career with Northern Telecom in systems and sales engineering roles. Jim holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in business administration from Washington State University.
