Fujitsu to Feature Latest WiMAX Technology at WCA's 11th Annual International Symposium and Business Expo

Fujitsu’s Reza Golshan will speak in a panel, “Chip Marketing Sizing and Business Implications” on January 13 at 1:30 p.m.

Sunnyvale, CA, January 5, 2005 — Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA), a leader in the development of WiMAX broadband wireless access technology, will play a prominent role at the 11th annual International Symposium and Business Expo, January 12-15 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose.

Fujitsu Microelectronics will feature a WiMAX technology update at booth 225. In addition, Reza Golshan, FMA's director of System ASIC development, will present “Semiconductor Integration and Implementation for Broadband Wireless Access: Technical Challenges and Architectural Requirements" in a panel discussion entitled “Chip Marketing Sizing and Business Implications” on January 13 at 1:30 p.m.

As a founding and board member of the WiMAX Forum™, an industry-led, non-profit corporation formed to promote and certify compatibility and interoperability of broadband wireless products, Fujitsu Microelectronics America supports the industry-wide acceptance of the IEEE 802.16 and ETSI HiperMAN wireless MAN standards that are essential to successful WiMAX deployment.

FMA is now developing its new WiMAX system-on-chip, which is scheduled for introduction during the second calendar quarter of 2005. Last month, the company issued its second white paper on the topic, "RF Spectrum Utilization in WiMAX," which focuses on the Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access standard and its implementation. The paper discusses the frequency-spectrum requirements for implementation of the IEEE 802.16-2004 (WiMAX) broadband wireless standard. The document also reviews the diversity of band spectrum for WiMAX-certified Metro Area Network (MAN) deployment, which is creating new demand for base stations and subscriber stations with varying RF requirements. The new white paper is available at http://www.fujitsu.com/us/services/edevices/microelectronics/wpbwaRF.html

The first white paper, "WiMAX Technology and Deployment for Last-Mile Wireless Broadband and Backhaul Applications," is available at http://www.fujitsu.com/us/services/edevices/microelectronics/wpbwa.html
