Accelerated Technology Offers Nucleus PLUS Support to High-End Applications Market Using the Fujitsu FR Processor

Mobile, AL, February 3, 2004 — Accelerated Technology®, the Embedded Systems Division of Mentor Graphics Corporation, today announced support for the FR family of 32-bit RISC controllers from Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA), beginning with the Nucleus® PLUS real-time kernel support for the MB91301 microcontroller. The Nucleus PLUS kernel is the first commercial source code, no-royalty kernel support for the MB91301 microcontroller, giving embedded developers a royalty-free solution in which to build high-end applications in the automotive, industrial, communications, consumer electronics and computer peripherals markets.

Specifically targeting the high-end applications market, the MB91301 microcontroller is a low-power, high-performance controller based on a 32-bit RISC CPU core. The MB91301 microcontroller has enhanced bus access for higher speed operation. This high-speed functionality gives highly optimized performance for Nucleus-based applications built with the MB91301 microcontroller.

Flexible and robust, the Nucleus PLUS kernel provides a solid foundation from which FR series microcontroller developers can build their high-end applications. The Nucleus PLUS real-time kernel is highly scalable with a small memory footprint, providing efficient, high-performance task management, inter-task communication, inter-task synchronization and component query features for developers using the FR series microcontrollers.

"The Accelerated Technology Nucleus PLUS kernel provides vital support that helps deliver a complete and cost-effective solution to users of our FR microcontroller products, such as the MB91301," said Keith Horn, vice president of marketing for Fujitsu Microelectronics America. "This kind of real-time kernel support is an important factor in the growth of high-end MCUs into exciting, highly intelligent home equipment, automotive and communications designs."

"The Nucleus PLUS kernel has been very successful in many of the markets that Fujitsu's latest processor family is supporting. The highly optimized chip performance, coupled with the efficiency of the Nucleus PLUS kernel, helps account for the growing popularity of high-speed embedded applications even in low-power devices," said Robert Day, director of marketing, Mentor Graphics Embedded Systems Division.

Pricing and Availability
The Nucleus embedded software is sold with source code and without royalty fees. Licenses for the Nucleus software begin at $12,495. For more information, please contact Accelerated Technology at 800-468-6853 or info@acceleratedtechnology.com.
