Fujitsu Microelectronics America Introduces 32-Bit MCU with Embedded Flash, Dual CAN Buses and Variety of Peripherals for Automotive and Industrial Applications
Sunnyvale, CA, April 23, 2003 — Fujitsu Microelectronics America Inc. (FMA) today introduced a 32-bit microcontroller for automotive and industrial applications, built with the Control Access Network (CAN) interface, 768 Kilobytes of embedded flash memory and a wide range of peripherals. The new MCU is ideal for dashboard display, data gateway with central-control capability and other in-vehicle applications.
The MB91F376G incorporates a RISC core with 4 Kbytes of instruction memory, a DMA Controller, two channels of Controller Area Network (CAN) buses, an I2C bus and two Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UARTs), as well as two serial I/Os, four input capture units and two output/compare units.
The new MCU also includes eight programmable pulse generators, four stepper-motor controller drivers, eight analog channels, a real-time clock, two I/O timers, six reload timers, eight external IRQs and a subclock. Fabricated in 0.35-micron technology, the new MCU is supported with 32 Kbytes of data RAM.
The MB91F376G is core-compatible with all other Fujitsu CAN microcontrollers in the MB91360 family. It shares the same software modules and operating systems as the other devices in the family, including OSEK, EurosPlus or embOS. The MB91360 evaluation starter kit is available now, enabling immediate application development and software design.
“Fujitsu has made a major commitment to developing high-performance microcontrollers that incorporate double and triple CAN capabilities, along with embedded flash and a complete set of peripherals for automobile dashboard and driver-control applications,᾿ said Keith Horn, FMA’s vice president of marketing. “The CAN bus provides a very reliable, efficient serial data-transmission capability in automotive systems and subsystems. Our latest microcontrollers establish a leadership position in the technology.᾿
Pricing and Availability
The MB91F376G comes in a 120-pin quad flat pack package. Samples are available now. Production volumes will be ready in the
third quarter, with prices starting at under $26 in 10,000-piece quantities.
