Fujitsu Microelectronics to Display, Demonstrate Industry-Leading Wireless, Cellular, GPS Technology at Annual MTT-S in Seattle, June 4-6

San Jose, CA, June 3, 2002 — Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) will display and demonstrate its newest device technology for wireless systems, cellular base stations and global positioning applications at the International Microwave Symposium, June 4-6 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle.

In booth 1707, FMA will show its Digital-to-Analog Converters (DAC), power management ICs, Assisted-GPS baseband processors, and Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) devices. "This set of solutions serves a broad range of wired and wireless applications, including cellular handsets, high-resolution graphics applications, base stations and test equipment," said Keith Horn, FMA's vice president of marketing.

The PLLs and power management ICs address the demands of current and next-generation wireless systems, including GMS/GPRS, PCS, W-CDMA, telematics and PDA applications.

New 14-Bit DAC Technology for Cellular Base Station Design
Fujitsu has introduced a new 14-bit DAC technology, available through Fujitsu's custom solution program. The new technology has been developed using Fujitsu's advanced mixed signal 0.18µm process, featuring Fujitsu's Triple-Well extension. Applications include video systems, test equipment and the cellular infrastructure market, which requires DAC performance capable of supporting the needs of third generation (3G) systems. Cellular base-station design will also benefit from the technology because it enables the full multi-carrier implementation required by 3G and W-CDMA systems.

Fujitsu will also join with Global Locate, Inc. to demonstrate the new indoor GPS system, which includes the GL-16000. This baseband processor is a fast, low-power receiver that allows wireless phones receive GPS satellite signals in virtually any indoor environment. The GL-16000 is designed to add location capabilities to wireless products.
