Fujitsu Expands Standard Touch Panel Offering for Automotive and High Temperature Applications

Sunnyvale, CA, August 8, 2007 — Responding to customer requests for enhanced touch panel performance and environmental specifications, such as those needed for automotive and industrial applications, Fujitsu Components America, Inc. today added three new extended temperature range products to its standard off-the-shelf, resistive touch panel offering.

The new touch panels feature an extended operating temperature range of -30C to +85C and a 10 to 90% operating relative humidity (non-condensing) range. An 88%-transmissive panel enhances readability for use in bright light or outdoor conditions.

To reduce reflected light, Fujitsu developed a series of Index Matching coatings, which are applied to the panels’ glass and film surfaces. This method is much less costly than the circular- or linear-polarization methods currently used for resistive touch panels. An Anti-Glare, 3H hardcoat finish, along with Fujitsu’s high-performance, Anti-Smudge technology, is then applied to the panel’s surface to further enhance image clarity.

Rated at over one million finger touches, the new standard products include a 6.5-inch, 82%-transmissive panel (N010-0514-T003), a 6.5-inch, 88%-transmissive panel (N010-0514-T005) and a 7.0-inch, 82%-transmissive panel (N010-0514-T101). All the panels are wide aspect ratio (16:9), have 1.1mm glass, and a 50mm length flex tail.

The new RoHS-compliant, standard touch panels are available immediately from stock. Prices range from $19.00 for a 6.5-inch, 82%-transmissive panel to $29.00 for a 6.5-inch, 88%-transmissive panel and $22.00 for a 7.0-inch, 82%-transmissive panel in one-thousand piece quantities.
