Fujitsu, Mutiara Technology Resources and Telekom Malaysia Team to Implement Integrated 9-1-1 Call System in Malaysia

DMR, a division of Fujitsu Consulting, to provide project management and architecture services in Phase One of $60 million Malaysian project

Quebec City, QC, March 26, 2008 — Fujitsu Consulting today announced that its Quebec-based division, DMR, has been selected along with alliance partners Mutiara Technology Resources and Telekom Malaysia to develop and implement the first phase of a $60 million project to build a 9-1-1 system in Malaysia. The integrated 9-1-1 call center system will serve both civil security and public safety, including police, fire, ambulance and civil defence services.

The two-year project will be completed by November 2009. The 9-1-1 call center will serve three regional sites in Meluka, Kuching and Kuala Lumpur and 235 dispatch sites for the different public services. The project will also involve the training of more than 4,000 call dispatchers and management.

This will be one of the largest information technology initiatives in Southeast Asia. Telekom Malaysia is the lead on the contract. “The revamping of our emergency response system is a major, high visibility project,” said Tuan Haji Romli Hussin, vice-president and project manager at Telekom Malaysia. “We’re relying on Canadian technology and know-how to help us better serve and protect our citizens.”

DMR will provide consulting services including project management and system and technology architecture. “We’re pleased to be teaming with the Government of Malaysia to provide vital 9-1-1 services for the country’s 25 million inhabitants,” said André Pouliot, president of DMR in Quebec. “And we’re proud to be working with other Quebec businesses to make a real contribution in exporting our local knowledge and expertise abroad.”

Mutiara Technology Resources is responsible for integrating and implementing the computer-aided dispatch system. “We appreciate the fact that our Quebec City partners are sharing their expertise and thus helping make this project a success,” affirmed Ms. Puteri Mariana Majid, project manager at Mutiara.

As part of the project, Quebec-based EmergenSys Solutions, will provide the 9-1-1 software solution, and Novo Technologies, will provide the voice recording system.

The contract granted to DMR was signed at city hall in Quebec City in the presence of Mayor Régis Labeaume and a delegation from Malaysia. This contract exemplifies how Quebec City is emerging as one of the most productive cities in Canada in the development of knowledge and expertise that can be exported to global markets.
