Fujitsu Launches Industry’s First Introductory Guidebook to Carrier Ethernet

Helping Telecom industry professionals understand the increasingly popular technology

Fujitsu Network Communications Inc.

Richardson, TX, November 18, 2014

Fujitsu, a leading provider of business, information technology, and communications solutions, announced the publication of a new book, “Introduction to Carrier Ethernet: A foundation for MEF-CECP 2.0 training” at the MEF GEN14 conference in Washington, DC. It is the first book written for telecom and business professionals with limited Ethernet experience. Developed by Fujitsu, it provides a solid foundation on Carrier Ethernet services as well as the motivations for developing the standards and its relation to earlier technologies.

The book is divided into five sections: What is Carrier Ethernet?; Ethernet in local area networking; telecom and carrier services; Carrier Ethernet services and a summary. Topics include: shared media Ethernet, time division multiplexing (TDM), Carrier Ethernet services over multiple carrier networks and Ethernet with IP routing.

“I believe readers will find this book very useful,” said Roger Marks, Ph.D., IEEE Fellow and recognized networking technology expert. “I really enjoyed the liberal use of illustrations; the frequent graphics really differentiate this book in its ability to make the material extremely clear for the learner. I also found that the introduction of some new concepts, such as ’one-channel’ ‘and ’multi-channel’ connectivity in bundling, results in a much cleaner and more concise presentation than I’ve seen before.”

This new book builds on the success of Fujitsu’s earlier study guide, “MEF-CECP 2.0 Exam Study Guide for Carrier Ethernet 2.0 Professionals” as well as its MEF-CECP training apps available on Apple and Android devices. The new release can either be used as standalone book or serve as an introduction to the much more technically in-depth study guide. Fujitsu is one of only a handful of MEF Accredited Training Providers in the world, making it an internationally recognized authority on Carrier Ethernet education and preparation.

”By design, it is written in a non-intimidating style that provides value to a broad audience,” said the author, Jon Kieffer, Knowledge Services Technical Writer at Fujitsu Network Communications. “From marketing and sales teams to telecom engineers wanting to ramp-up on the newer Carrier Ethernet, the book can help. In keeping with the friendly style, it’s a relatively quick read at 150 pages.”

“Introduction to Carrier Ethernet: A foundation for MEF-CECP 2.0 training” is available from Amazon in print and Kindle formats.
